Minor Threat

Below you will find the results of my having challenged myself for a number of days to write a short story with a beginning and middle and an end inside of 30 minutes. Here is what I came up with. I hope you like it.

He read an article in The Breeze. A former teacher at his high school was being feted by some of her old students — all women — for the powerful, positive, empowering effect she’d had on their lives.

They’d all gone on to become academics, critics, attorneys and paralegals, these successful women.

He remembered the teacher as the woman who tried to get him suspended for bringing some punk rock records to class as examples of “Swiftian satire.”

She was a big Janis Ian fan.
