Lester Maddox

Below you will find the results of my having challenged myself for a number of days to write a short story with a beginning and middle and an end inside of 30 minutes. Here is what I came up with. I hope you like it.

William Washington was one the ‘colored’ patrons denied service at Lester Maddox’s Pickrick restaurant, back in 1964.

The reporter, a nice woman who used to work in the hair and make-up department on Sex In The City , asked Mr. Washington what he currently thought about Lester Maddox, who prevented potential diners from entering his establishment by waving an axe handle — or Pickrick Drumstick — at them.

“I’m glad he didn’t have a gun,” answered Mr. Washington.
