Below you will find the results of my having challenged myself for a number of days to write a short story with a beginning and middle and an end inside of 30 minutes. Here is what I came up with. I hope you like it.
The staff at the coffee seemed to be comprised of defrocked geniuses: the woman who was accepted into The Iowa Writers’ Workshop at 23, and whose manuscripts, both “austere” and “icy,” signaled a new direction for the urban feminist novel; the singer whose “lacerating” and “confessional” lyrics were bound to influence countless lesser talents; the man who taught a playwriting course while still an undergraduate at Bard, and whose godmother was Marianne Faithfull.
You should have heard them bitch about True Detective.
